  1. Oh, don’t be so hard on Meredith !! 🙂
Are you suggesting that you don’t like her endless repetition of moral platitudes ??
(try to see her her monologues as ENglish vocabulary lesssons for non-native speakers, for example, here’s one for the word CLOSE)

» At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing, where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, is usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we’ve chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them, the people that are still with you at the end of the day – those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need.  »

George is my doghouse guess. That seems to be the popular guess.
My daughter was home from college and caught up with the Grey’s episodes she had missed — like you, she can not stand the GHOST !!
(in the last episode, when Denny was walking around with Izzy in the hospital, I thought the show had definitely jumped the shark!)

    On another matter:
I want to give a plug for my friend FUSTAR. Last night on his blog he presented his second annual Manky Toy Show — Live (it’s a parody of an Irish late night tv show).
    Fustar’s a great showman — pulled in 203 comments !
Plus, just for Fustar’s written English, it’s worth checking it out. He has wonderful comic mastery of the the English language. Very entertaining.

  2. The terrible thing is I can hear her voice in my head while reading it ^^; Apparently Izzie has not a tumor but an aneurism (don’t tell you daughter, it’s a major spoiler). Still brain related though… I just hope they’ll find it really soon. Bybye Denny, go back in fantasy land.

Have you read my review on Twilight below? Are the Twilight moms still howling at the moon on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean?
« Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make. » :O)

  3. heidi, that’s a double standard !!
you want to hide spoilers from my daughter,
but not from me ! 😉
(dont’ worry, it’s perfectly fine, I don’t mind knowing the plot in advance)

yes, just seeing the name MEREDITH makes me hear that tired, exasperated, endlessly unsatisfied voice

speaking of voice + language in tv series:
have you noticed that every USA series tends to have its own poetic meter for dialogue ?
In Grey’s, there’s a lot of circular repetition of phrasing …
at the end of the last episode, Little Grey exemplified this rhythm to a tee, when she arrived at Sloan’s front door. It went something like this:

« You made her talk, you do surgery and you made her talk, and you’re my teacher, so teach me, yes you’re my teacher, so you should teach me . »

have you seen a site where somebody has analyzed the dialogue style for the different series ?
I think the writers + directors have learned via behaviorist psychology that if you can take over the viewer’s mental ear space — where he/she hears + recreates dialogue, the viewer is yours for life. (Advertising $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)

Is the Meredithian introspective whine the point of entry into the FEMALE USA MIND, circa 2005 ?

hey, why don’t any of your other readers ever say hi to me ?????
    🙁 🙁 🙁

  4. I’m just going to answer the last question for now: because you’re my only reader! Lucky you! 😉

I’ll check my bookmarks for the dialogues analysis stuff, nothing comes to mind right now.

  5. the Chief told Die (you know, the new lesbian flirting with Callie)
that she’s still an intern at the hospital only because of her father …
are we supposed to know who her father is? well, I don’t

    say hi to damien,
    his blog is quiet
so he is probably in his Information Technology Laboratory,
writing a Mind-Blowing Program in Python or Cobra or Quetzalcoatl or Java or Lava or Popocatépetl : – )))))

  6. Yep, I noticed that too but I don’t see who that might be either so probably someone new, a governor or something like that maybe…we’ll wait and see.
(Damien is knee deep into Star Trek Next Generation… hey I’ve got a trekker at home :O) )

  7. my first thought:
Since Chief has special knowledge concerning Meredith’s mother
(and since Die seems to be a friend of Death’s from childhood)
might there be a skeleton in a closet that’s about to jump out ??
(is Sadie Dr. Susan Grey’s daughter?
Is Meredith going to discover the story via her mom’s diary?)

Sadie does seem to have a psychological fascination with the scalpel —
is it a genetic inheritance ?

    _____

    regarding Star Trek: Next Generation
remind damien that Michael Jackson makes a cameo appearance in Season 3
(he’s the leader of a warrior tribe on a desert planet — and his face is entirely reworked — very white, wrinkly and weather-beaten), very cool

  8. Raaah you stole it from my mind!!!! But wouldn’t it be too much? We already have one half-sister, Lexi… And I think it’s time to let Mommy Grey rest in peace (and Denny too!)
I’m not sure about her scalpel happy behaviour but it reminds me of 13 from House MD (we still don’t know her real name, do we?). She has Huntington’s disease and was burning her life at both ends until very recently. So maybe Sadie is also hidding a big life-threatening medical condition…
